Abigail and Michael met on July 14th, 2018, at a little sand volleyball tournament in Dayton, Ohio. As fate would have it, both found themselves recently single, and with urging from friends they participated in the Dayton Margarita Classic. Michael’s best friend John Flaherty and Abigail’s friend Tyler Brumfield eventually introduced the pair between matches, and it was there the two decided to play in a coed sand doubles tournament the next weekend. After leaving Dayton, Abigail and Michael talked every day and made many plans together, including signing up for the 2018 Columbus Half Marathon. It was after crossing the finish line of the Columbus Half Marathon on October 21st, 2018, that Michael asked Abigail to be his girlfriend. Since that day, they have played in over fifty volleyball tournaments together and have run five half marathons and one full marathon. Though their first passion together was volleyball, Abigail and Michael love running together on the weekends, walking their dogs, Zara & Nova, going to concerts, enjoying the local theater, and feeding the homeless on Sundays in Franklinton. A little less than one year later, on September 2nd, 2019, Michael proposed to Abigail at the Columbus Park of Roses, where they were surrounded by family and friends. She graciously accepted, and the two have set their wedding date for October 16th, 2020.
